A $75 Donation to Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue

This month, Hopportunity Box is proud to send a $75 donation to Pumpkin's Acres Rabbit Rescue, a registered charity based in the Niagara region of Ontario. The rescue was started by Thorold resident Lyla Frick in early 2020, named in honour of Pumpkin, a bunny who was found abandoned in a St. Catharines neighbourhood in 2017 and went on to inspire the rescue that now bears her name. Since then, Pumpkin's Acres has taken in well over two hundred rabbits, including orphaned babies, seniors needing palliative care, and rabbits with ongoing medical needs. Every rabbit who comes into their care sees a rabbit-savvy vet and is spayed or neutered before heading to a forever home.

Pumpkin's Acres runs entirely on foster homes and donations. They have no physical shelter, so every rabbit in their care depends on a foster family opening their home, and every vet bill depends on supporters stepping up. That kind of grassroots, all-volunteer effort is exactly what our featured rescue program exists to support.

At Hopportunity Box, giving back to rabbit rescues isn't an add-on to what we do, it's built into it. A dollar from every box we send out already goes to rescues across Canada, and our featured rescue program lets us go further for one organization at a time with no strings attached: a donation, a short video, and a spot in our community's spotlight so more people learn about the work they're doing.

If you'd like to support Pumpkin's Acres directly, you can find them online and through their adoption and foster applications. And if you know a rabbit rescue that could use some extra visibility, send them our way. We're always looking for the next one to feature.
